Richard Orlinski (°1966, Paris, France) is a French contemporary sculptor whose work combines Pop Art references, luxury aesthetics and highly polished industrial materials. Best known for his faceted animal sculptures, he has developed an immediately recognizable visual language in which powerful figures such as gorillas, crocodiles, bears and panthers are transformed into sleek, geometric forms.
Orlinski began his artistic career in 2004 with a bright red resin crocodile, the first work in what would become his signature Born Wild series. The concept explores the transformation of instinct, aggression and animal power into objects that are refined, colourful and accessible. Resin and aluminium became central materials in his practice, allowing him to combine monumental forms with glossy surfaces and vivid colour.
His best-known figure, Wild Kong, reinterprets the gorilla as both a symbol of untamed strength and a playful icon of contemporary popular culture. Alongside his animal sculptures, Orlinski has expanded his work into design, music, fashion and collaborations with international brands, deliberately blurring the boundaries between fine art, luxury and entertainment. His sculptures have also been presented in public spaces and dedicated galleries in locations including Paris, Saint-Tropez and Deauville.
Today, Richard Orlinski has built one of the most widely recognizable brands in contemporary French sculpture. His combination of accessible imagery, striking colour and highly finished surfaces has attracted a broad international audience and made his faceted sculptures instantly identifiable within contemporary popular culture.
